About PPM

History

1994 Pulse Power and Measurement (PPM) was founded in August 1994 as a fully independent, privately owned UK business. On launch, the business distributed pulse power systems, power electronics components and EMC test equipment.

1995  The company acquired Electro Optic Developments Ltd and expanded its existing RF over fibre offering to include the design and manufacture of the equipment. The wide range of products and systems since developed by PPM (many ground breaking) allow RF electrical signals to be transmitted over fibre optic cables.

2004 PPM has been an accredited ‘Investors in People’ organisation since 2004. The company sees the training and development of its people as a key element to the success of its business model and aims to provide customers with the best level of service possible.

2005 Guaranteeing its quality processes, products and workmanship, PPM was certified to the ISO 9001 quality standard and remains certified to this day; now meeting the latest standard: ISO 9001:2015.

The certified quality management systems have been refined for flexibility and efficiency, and produce a high quality, high reliability, low cost and diverse product range.  PPM’s applications engineers work closely with customers to understand system requirements and to specify the correct product for each application.

Over time, the company has developed into its four current-day divisions. – ViaLite Communications, PPM Test and PPM Systems are specialist divisions covering the RF over fibre industry. While PPM Power, the fourth division, is a distributor for pulse power and power electronic components.

2015 In May 2015, the company secured its Cyber Essentials Certified certification; adhering to the new Government scheme designed to help companies better protect themselves against cyber security threats. This was upgraded to Cyber Essentials Plus in October 2017.

2016 In November 2016, the company’s Investor in People certification was upgraded to Gold status, with PPM joining the top 14% of IIP organisations!

2020 In September 2020, PPM became JOSCAR registered, demonstrating our commitment and credentials to the aerospace, defence and security industry.

2021 Then, in March 2021, further to continued growth over its 26 year period, PPM was acquired by BAE Systems as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The acquisition provides further investment into PPM to supports the company’s ambitious goals for future years.
